This past weekend would have been our sweet friend Onika's 38th birthday. We miss her so much at work and had a small celebration of her. I pulled out her recipe for World's Best Chili, it was the BIGGEST pot of chili I have ever made, but boy was it a good one!! Here is the recipe on how to make your own!
-Cook 1 pack of ground turkey and 1 pack of ground beef with some diced garlic and onion on the stove top
-Season meat with salt, pepper, onion powder, and 2 packs of chili seasoning mix
-In the crock pot add 2 cans of diced tomatoes and 1 large can of crushed tomatoes
-Drain 2 cans of dark kidney beans, 2 cans of light kidney beans, and 1 can of chili beans. All all the beans into the crock pot along with meat and let it cook on low overnight.
Options to top the chili with: green scallions, cheddar cheese, sour cream, Fritos and oyster crackers
Lots of meat cooking away!
Bright red canned tomatoes simmering away!
Hey now!! This is going to be good!
I topped mine off with some cheddar, Friots and sour cream, it was fantastic and everyone at work said how good it was. No doubt, Onika could cook!
I brought in a little table runner, some flowers and drinks to set up a chili bar. I wrote Onika's Chili on the chalkboard sign :-)
Another coworker picked up some cupcakes and we all had on purple, Onika's favorite color. It was a lovely celebration for our sweet friend, we miss her and love her so much XOXO
